send your cards via reindeer

Why we do this

Reindeer Greetings was created to capture funds that would otherwise contribute to environmental destruction and reallocate them to support positive action through organizations like Architecture for Humanity. Committed to reconsidering the choices we make every day, Reindeer Greetings believes the time has come to reinvent the holiday card – to make it a more efficient and meaningful form of communication. As another idea into action from RE:VISION, Reindeer Greetings also takes a three tier approach to inspiring positive change. Using Head, Heart and Action, we start with the cognitive process of understanding and gaining information. The heart drives our intention. And our ultimate goal of action is the process of changing behavior and helping people reconnect with their environment.

Support Positive Action

By asking the same, or less than the cost of buying and mailing traditional paper greeting cards, Reindeer Greetings supports organizations committed to helping people most in need. And isn’t that, after all, the true spirit of the holidays?

Reduced Emissions

It’s difficult to calculate the incredible amount of fossil fuels burned in the creation and delivery of holiday cards. That the manufacturing and delivery of billions of cards contributes to climate change is indisputable if not measurable.

Forest Preservation

It’s estimated that 2.7 billion holiday cards will be sent this year in the United States alone, requiring the harvesting of nearly 300,000 trees. 50,000 cubic yards of paper would be saved if everyone just sent one less holiday card.

Waste Reduction

Paper manufacturing is a notoriously dirty process, releasing deadly toxins into the air and water. Household garbage increases 25% during the holidays. Greeting cards alone would fill a landfill the size of a football field ten stories high.
